The National Institute of Ophthalmology is committed to delivery of quality eye care. NIO has the best existing technology in the world like Excimer Laser and Lasik Phacoemulsification and also a team of dedicated Ophthalmologists trained in various specialties of Ophthalmology to treat various eye diseases and deliver quality eye care to the patients.

The Institute is recognized by University of Pune as a research center and also recognized by the college of physicians and surgeons ( C.P.S ) Mumbai national board, Delhi national board ( D.N.B ) and also the university of Health sciences for post graduate studies. The institute is also recognized for treating the employees of the of the central government under the Health scheme.

The untiring efforts of Dr Shreekant Kelkar and Mrs. Aruna Kelkar have brought together world class technology and trained personnel to be able to deliver quality eye care.

Professor Dr, Shreekant Kelkar (M.S) is a member of the scientific committee of all India Opthalmological society , President of Maharashtra Ophthalmic society and scientific committee chairman of Pune Ophthalmic Society. Recently Dr. Kelkar was awarded the Prestigious Daljeeb Singh Oration award at New Delhi. For his contribution in the field of Ophthalmology.
Mrs. Kelkar is the chief administrator of the Institute and she has dedicated her life in the service of the poor and the needy.

Dr. Kelkar is a pioneer in this field and has done a lot of research in the field of Vitreous surgery, phacoemulsification, Excimer and Lasik Squint surgery.He has many instruction courses and scientific paper's to his credit various international and national conferences and deminars.
