◆What are the main types of Cataract Surgery?
Cataract Surgery is commonly done using ultrasonic machine it is called as Phacoemulsification / microphacoemulsification. The advanced technology such as Capsulaser, Femtosecond laser, Zepto, 3D Artevo 800 & image guided callisto eye system are also available at NIO.

◆ What are the main types of lenses?
- Monofocal: Majority of patients need only reading glasses but some need bifocals depending on the need.
- Multifocals: Majority of patients don't need glasses but some may need bifocals depending on the need.
- Monofocal Toric: Reduces astigmatism and hence reduces dependency on glasses for distance vision. Patients need only reading glasses but some need bifocals depending on the need.
- Multifocal Toric: Reduces astigmatism and in addition reduces dependency on near & distant vision glasses. Majority of patients don't need glasses but some may need bifocals depending on the need.
- Apart from other lenses, EDOF, EDOF Toric lenses are available to reduce dependency of glasses for Distance and Intermediate work.
◆What are the possible Complications?
Due to advances in science and technology the sight threatening complications are rare.
Some of the important ones are as follows.
Glare, Haloes, Light Sensitivity, Flaoters, Glasses, Capsular opacification, Strain, Watering, Itching, Dry eye, Pain, Infection, Bleeding, Retinal detachment, phthisis, corneal opacity etc.
